The 2/3 Australian Hospital Ship Centaur was torpedoed and sunk without warning by Japanese submarine I-177, on 14 May 1943, about 50 miles east north-east of Brisbane.
Of the 332 medical personnel and crew on board, only 64 survived.
This is the tale of Centaur from construction to sinking to rediscovery, and the incredible legacy of the people of Centaur.
